Had a moment today where one of my Year 3s asked me very seriously if caterpillars get lonely in their cocoons. When I said I didn't think so, he looked genuinely relieved and said "good, because I wouldn't want to be lonely for three weeks." Made me want to bundle them all up and protect them from the world.

Just had possibly the most disappointing £45 set menu of my life at that new place in Shoreditch everyone's been raving about. Beautiful plating, fair enough, but the cod was drier than a Victorian novel and they'd somehow managed to make brown butter taste like nothing at all. The only thing worth ordering again was the bread, which tells you everything really.
